Rain could play role in today’s #GPoB

As if the two-mile Grand Prix of Baltimore street circuit wasn’t tough enough on drivers, Mother Nature may have the audacity to toss some rain into the mix for today’s 75-lap event (2:30 pm ET, NBC Sports Network). Weather.com is indicating scattered showers and thunderstorms, as well as a 60 percent chance of rain today in the Baltimore region.

A look at the radar shows a major mass of precipitation coming from the west and heading straight for Baltimore. That could mean a wet start to today’s action for the IZOD IndyCar Series, and a major re-write of strategies for all teams involved.

Pole sitter and defending Baltimore champion Will Power took the potential for rain in stride yesterday.

“We’ll take it as it comes,” said the Australian. “We’re aware there’s a chance of rain tomorrow. Until it rains here, you don’t know it’s here.”
