Dario Franchitti wins the 96th #Indy500!

An action-packed Indianapolis 500 ended in dramatic fashion, with Dario Franchitti hanging on to win his third ‘500’ after a failed last-lap pass attempt by Takuma Sato ended with the Japanese driver in the wall.

At the beginning of the final circuit, a hard-charging Sato went for it all by pulling alongside Franchitti as they both went low going into Turn 1. But Sato lost control in the turn and spun into the SAFER Barrier, while Franchitti sailed by on the high line and went on to lead teammate Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan to the checkered flag under caution.

Oriol Servia battled from the back of the field to finish fourth, with pole sitter Ryan Briscoe coming home fifth.
